Web-based Testing: Providing Learners with Customized Feedback and Instructors with a Powerful Tool for Constructing Tests

The World Wide Web can serve as a complete learning and educational environment. Testing and assessment are value-added services in a learning procedure, which aim at evaluating and measuring the outcomes of learning experiences. Developing tests in an instructional efficient and effective manner is a difficult task, especially when this is implemented over the web. The adequate provision of feedback is also a crucial parameter for the orientation and motivation of participants in a testing and assessment procedure. Towards this direction, in this paper we describe the main features and functionalities of a web-based testing system that deploys state-of-theart technologies (Java, Java Server Pages) providing the instructors and learners with a powerful web-based testing environment.
